This is the time of year when life quietly asks more of you.
For some, it’s yard work.
For others, it’s getting back outside-walking, golfing, doing more of what they enjoy.
At first, they don’t feel the same.
One feels like something you have to do.
The other feels like something you get to do.
But your body doesn’t see it that way.
Whether it’s carrying mulch…or walking 18 holes…
your body is responding to one thing:
the demand being placed on it.
You’ve probably felt this before.
Two people do the exact same thing-
one finishes energized…
the other feels drained.
Same activity.
So what’s the difference?
What if it’s not the task…
but how ready your body is for it?
Because when your body is prepared-
the same demand feels different.
And when it’s not…
even the things you enjoy can leave you more sore,
more tired than expected.
Not because you did something wrong-
but because your body is simply responding.
Spring doesn’t ease us into this.
It invites us back…all at once.
More movement.
More activity.
More being asked of your body than just a few weeks ago.
That’s not a problem.
It’s an opportunity.
You might notice it this week.
A longer walk.
A day outside.
A task you haven’t done in a while.
Instead of brushing it off…
just get curious.
What did that ask of your body?
And how ready was it…
or how could you have helped it be a little more ready?
Maybe the question isn’t whether something is a chore…or something you enjoy.
Maybe the better question is:
What is your body ready for right now?
…and what small step might help it be just a little more ready?
Because sometimes…
it’s not the activity that changes-
it’s what your body is trying to tell you about it.
About Our Body’s Story: We’re excited to introduce The Body’s Story, a weekly series from Cornerstone Clubs. Through reflective, story-driven posts, we explore how your body responds to movement, rest, stress, and daily habits—and what you can learn when you pause long enough to listen.
