I have to laugh at the internet sometimes.
Look at one pair of shoes, and for the next several days it seems personally invested in helping you reconsider your entire footwear collection.
People joke that their phone must have been listening.
Maybe it was. Or maybe one innocent click was all the encouragement it needed.
Either way, it made me think about the body.
A pair of shoes can have five stars, thousands of great reviews, and a price that may never be this low again.
If they don’t fit, our feet aren’t impressed.
That’s one of the things I find so interesting about the body. It doesn’t read the reviews. It leaves one of its own.
And our feet aren’t the only part of the body with an opinion.
What feels right to one person may feel completely different to another. Even something that once felt right may not feel quite the same today.
That doesn’t make every response easy to understand, and it certainly doesn’t mean everything is within our control. Bodies aren’t that simple.
But the body keeps responding to the life it is actually living. Not the ratings, the recommendations, or what seemed to work for everyone else.
The internet can tell me what worked for them.
My body is the only one that can tell me whether it worked for me.
And when the shoe doesn’t fit, my feet usually have the last word.
